South African rising star Rio Cruz follows up his national championship success with a commanding gold medal performance at the historic Karate One Youth League event on African soil.<\/h2>\n

Harare, Zimbabwe (31 March 2026) –\u00a0 <\/em>Momentum is everything in sport, and right now, Rio Cruz has plenty of it. It\u2019s been a standout week for South African karate, and rising talent Rio Cruz is right at the heart of it.<\/p>\n

Fresh from securing a national title in KwaZulu-Natal, Cruz carried that momentum onto the international stage, delivering a gold medal performance at the Karate One Youth League in Harare.<\/p>\n

The tournament itself marked a significant milestone, as it was the first time the prestigious youth competition, part of the World Karate Federation calendar, was hosted on African soil. And Zimbabwe was the country of choice. With over 200 athletes from 34 countries in attendance, the event highlighted the growing strength and reach of youth karate worldwide.<\/p>\n
