At Stellenbosch University, newcomers have just concluded their annual welcoming ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>A beloved part of the ceremony is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1A1r6zjs7r\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dream Walk<\/a> down Victoria Street. In keeping with the tradition, students were invited to write down their dreams for 2026 and reflect on the meaning of their student experience. Each of these written cards was then placed on a tree.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cHopes, ambitions and dreams: written down, shared and hung on the trees along Victoria Street,\u201d shared Stellenbosch University. \u201cMay these dreams take root, grow strong and flourish in the years to come.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fstellenboschuniversity%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02Lacqbx31QPKT2fMBiGVeeuKCKYRUMm5WwQNjXCi9LgD9381Jz45sbVC8hByyFvFQl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"779\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1D7uX8Aeg5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">special tradition<\/a> upheld at the university is the conclusion of the welcoming ceremony, where, this year, over 6000 new students and faculty gathered on the campus rugby field in formation of the current year. The photo-op symbolises the excitement of the year ahead.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cThis is one of our most loved traditions. One of acceptance.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cThis is a university where ALL are welcome,\u201d he said. &#8220;Let me start with something I want you to hear clearly, from the very first day you arrive here: You belong here. Not some of you. Not only the people who already know the campus, the system, or the &#8216;rules&#8217;. All of you. Whether you come from a big city or a small town. Whether you are the first person in your family to attend university, or from generations of academics. Whether you arrived feeling confident\u2026 or quietly terrified. Whether you already know exactly what you want to become, or you\u2019re still figuring it out.
