In a light-hearted reel, the content creator captures the simple, everyday greetings that make morning walks in South Africa feel uniquely warm.
South Africa (05 March 2026) – For anyone who’s ever stepped off a long-haul flight back into South Africa, this might feel familiar.
Johnny, known on social media as London Saffer, recently shared a video captioned “Morning walks in South Africa be like.” He highlights one thing that immediately stands out about South Africans: the greetings.
According to Johnny, he’s “not used to this level of friendliness” and isn’t quite sure how he’ll adjust back to “Tube life” where commuters are famously reserved and silent during their daily journeys. In contrast, his South African morning walk appears to be the opposite. A passerby greets him. Then another. And another. Some offer a casual “Howzit.” Others go for a cheerful “Morning!” Or a “Kunjani, bru”
Johnny’s reel captures that cultural contrast in a light, humorous way showing how something as small as a “morning” can feel surprisingly significant when you’ve been away from it.
