Peanut Butter Rusks

Food creator The Big Tasty Bite shares a peanut butter rusk recipe that’s rich, simple to follow, and perfect for tea-time dunking.

South Africa (29 March 2026) – If you thought rusks couldn’t get any better, think again.

Food creator The Big Tasty Bite is back at it, and this time, it’s all about peanut butter rusks, a twist on the classic that feels both indulgent and very hard to resist.

In the latest video from the ongoing rusk series (which, by the way, is clearly not going anywhere anytime soon), viewers are taken step-by-step through a recipe that’s as satisfying to watch as it probably is to eat.

It all starts with a rich base that’s softened butter whisked together with peanut butter (crunchy, in this case), followed by brown sugar, eggs and a touch of vanilla. From there, the dry ingredients come in, with a splash of milk to bring everything together into a smooth batter.

Once baked and slightly cooled, the rusks are carefully cut. If you don’t get the cut right, it’s okay. From there, they’re dried out in the oven at a low heat, transforming into that signature crunchy texture that’s perfect for dunking.

And just like that, another rusk variation joins the series.

It’s comforting and it’s the kind of recipe that feels right at home in a South African kitchen.
