Some say animals know exactly where to go when they need a hero, and this past Monday, a special soul wandered into a Randfontein ballet class looking for hers.

Randfontein, South Africa (19 March 2026) – While a group of ballerinas were busy mastering their balance and pliés during a class on Monday afternoon, an unexpected visitor interrupted the session with a rather concerning limp.

Not another dancer, but a lone dog that had wandered into their Randfontein ballet class. Not barking. Not causing chaos. Just looking for help.

Moved by the sight, a kind-hearted member of the community couldn’t look away and instead took her straight to the vet before reaching out to No More Tears Animal Rescue for help.

“She was limping badly — each step filled with pain. Her little body told a story no one should ever have to live through… walking on her toes, unable to straighten her leg. This wasn’t something that happened yesterday. This sweet soul has been suffering like this for a long time,” said Stephan Hendricks of No More Tears Animal Rescue.

A heartbroken Stephan couldn’t help but wonder how much pain the poor dog might have endured and how long she had walked alone, hurting, hoping someone would finally notice her.

But this week, thankfully, someone did.

After being handed over to the animal rescue, she was taken in for X-rays to determine the full extent of her injuries.

Though it appears her leg may need to be amputated, Stephan is hopeful this brave girl can still get a chance at the life she deserves.

“She is about three years old, medium-sized, and despite everything she’s been through, she is incredibly friendly. Still trusting. Still loving. Still hoping.”

“Her journey to healing starts now, but vet bills are costly, and we need your help to give her a fighting chance. If you can contribute in any way, no matter how small, it will mean the world to her and to us,” he appealed.

As a non-profit, pro-life animal shelter and rescue organisation located in Randfontein, No More Tears Animal Rescue is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming furry friends, ensuring that every creature, big or small, gets a second chance at happiness.

They step in where hope has run out. To help rewrite their latest rescue’s story, you can contribute towards her vet bill at Homestead Veterinary Hospital using the banking details below or support No More Tears Animal Rescue via a secure YOCO payment, or find other donation deatils here.
