A group of compassionate grannies in the United Kingdom has been pouring their hearts into a beautiful cause to provide comfort to the most vulnerable, ensuring new SA moms have something to take their babies home in.

United Kingdom, South Africa (24 September 2025) – Imagine strangers on the other side of the world, pouring their hearts, time and creativity into handmade crafts destined to reach the most innocent littlies in need from the moment they enter this world.

Well, somewhere in the United Kingdom, a group of selfless oumas have been stitching the cosiest and snuggliest baby items and blankets to donate to the Robin Hood Foundation to bless children in South Africa.

And as if that wasn’t special enough, in an extended effort to ensure these items could be delivered without any hiccups, the grannies of the Baby Bear knitting group further held a 12-hour Knitathon at their church to raise funds to cover the necessary import duties last week.

Moved by the heartfelt cause and generosity, the Robin Hood Foundation expressed that it was deeply humbled by the kindness of this senior knitting community.

The Foundation further emphasised how the resources and hours spent by these incredible knitters to create the most gorgeous blankets and tiny clothes directly impact new moms they may never meet, and often have nothing to take their baby home in.

“Never underestimate the power of small acts of love. There is always something you can do to make a difference,” the Foundation said.

These knitted goods are with new moms, children, and elders who need them most – each becoming a personal symbol of care and worth to the worthy recipients.

If you’d like to donate your knitted or crocheted items, you can reach out to Charlotte at info@robinhoodfoundation.co.za.
