Thanks to your kindness, Mzansi, a fridge, an inverter, and a whole lot of love are keeping David’s Puppy SOS KZN rescue mission alive.

KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (20 March 2026) – Towards the end of last month, the Robin Hood Foundation shared its hopes to help out a fellow helper, David from Puppy SOS KZN.

Living in a remote area outside Verulam, David has opened his home to more than 100 rescued dogs. Through ongoing sterilisation efforts, he has also reduced the number of unwanted puppies in his area significantly, bringing long-term change to stop the stray cycle.

Change he’s achieved with very limited resources and support… until recently.

Thanks to a heartfelt appeal shared by the Robin Hood Foundation, the greater public has stood up to help fill the gap.

Because of you, the Foundation returned to visit David, and thanks to your generosity, arrived bearing gifts, handing over:

  • Clothing and shoes
  • Easter eggs
  • Care and food parcels for each of his 6 dedicated staff members
  • A donated bar fridge
  • An inverter to help keep his phone and fridge powered during outages

“What may seem like simple items are, in David’s world, lifelines — helping him continue the incredible work he does every single day for his dogs and community,” the Foundation said.

Images captured from the delivery were marked by smiles that spoke to the appreciation of these gifts and supplies that will keep an honest man’s mission to care for vulnerable animals alive.

And the morning didn’t stop there.

“In true Robin Hood style, we followed a nudge and found ourselves visiting a nearby crèche and an old-age home. With arms still full, we shared Easter eggs, clothing, and biscuits — and in return, we were given something far greater.”

The team got to dance, sing and laugh with the elders, creating a moment of pure joy and connection that none of them will forget.

“This is what happens when people come together with open hands and open hearts. Thank you for helping us care for the caregivers — and for allowing us to keep saying “yes” when we see need along the way.”

They say it takes a village, and for David’s tiny rescues, that village just showed up in a massive way!

Meet David. A man who shares his bed with the dogs who need him most. The Robin Hood Foundation’s ‘Care for the Caregivers’ is stepping in to show him some love.

KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (26 February 2026)The Robin Hood Foundation is doing something special for the helpers this year. The ones who are always carrying others. Who show up again and again.

For every month in 2026, they will honour one such person or team who gives their time and heart to a cause or organisation, returning a little of the care they pour out into the world.

They’re calling it ‘Care for the Caregivers.’

“This year, each month, we will choose one individual, cause or organisation and do something special just for them — so they feel loved, valued and truly seen.” the organisation shares.

Last month, the volunteers from Queens Sport and Community Kitchen, who serve around 500 meals every week, were spoiled with care packs.

This month, that circle of care extends to David from Puppy SOS KZN – a man whose selfless devotion has changed the lives of hundreds of animals.

Living in a remote area outside Verulam, David has opened his home to more than 100 rescued dogs. Through ongoing sterilisation efforts, he has also reduced the number of unwanted puppies in his area significantly, bringing long-term change to stop the stray cycle.

With limited resources and often without basic services, David’s work continues almost entirely through compassion and community support.

“He is deeply passionate about his animals. So much so that he shares his very old, very worn Super King bed with many of the dogs who need extra care at night. His bed is no longer fit for purpose – but his heart never stops giving. We would love to give back to him” shares Robin Hood Foundation.

The foundation hopes to lighten the load, starting with a few practical essentials on David’s wish-list – a replacement Super King size bed and a mini fridge to safely store vaccines and essential medication.

Robin Hood put out the call for donations and within hours, supporters had already come forward with a fridge, bed, and donated toward more support for David and his doggies!

Those who wish to contribute can connect directly with the foundation. Contact details here.

Our hearts are pumping custard! What started as a barefoot child’s heartfelt request to have his cat sterilised has blossomed into a heartwarming display of generosity from a community that stepped in to help him in return.

Durban North, South Africa (26 August 2025) – Some people have next to nothing but still show every little bit of compassion they have to their furry companions.

This best describes young Londo, a sweet boy who approached Puppy SOS KZN with his cat in his arms, asking for help to sterilise it.

Moved by the 10-year-old barefoot Londo’s compassion and sense of responsibility despite his young age, the organisation rallied to help not only with his cat but to get him a pair of shoes, too.

Although they didn’t have much to offer him upon his initial visit, the Puppy SOS team provided Londo with some blankets and pillows as well as put out an appeal for size 2 shoes on Facebook.

What followed has left our hearts in a puddle of mush!

In just a matter of a few days, Londo was asked to return to the Puppy SOS centre, where a special surprise awaited him. He was so excited, he could barely get a wink of sleep the night before and even missed school to hurry there the following morning.

Londo was taken to the vet along with his little cat for sterilisation and inoculations, before being showered with generously donated items, including bags and boxes of shoes, clothes, food and stationery. He was even treated to his first-ever KFC meal – an unexpected treat on a most special day.

But the generosity hasn’t stopped.

“Another parcel arrived for him whilst he was with us, then he was taken back to our vet to collect his cat, and more donations were there waiting for him,” said Puppy SOS, confirming that a few other items were due to be delivered for the young boy.

What started as Londo’s sincere request to help his precious cat has unfolded into a community’s heartfelt mission to help him. A boy who had no shoes, and probably lacked a whole lot more, has received a gift far more significant than the physical; the gift of being at the very centre of compassion and kindness, as people as worked together to improve his circumstances.

Our hearts go out to every person who contributed to helping Londo, reminding us that simple gestures and sharing what we no longer need can mean the world to someone else.
