South Africa beat Fiji 10–7 in New York to secure another tournament win and officially seal the 2026 HSBC SVNS Series title.
New York, USA (16 March 2026) – The Blitzboks clearly didn’t get the memo about slowing down.
After already lifting titles in Cape Town, Perth and Vancouver this season, the Blitzboks added one more trophy to their growing collection over the weekend. And this time it came with the ultimate prize. A 10–7 win over Fiji in the final of the HSBC SVNS New York not only secured another tournament victory, but also crowned South Africa the 2026 series champions.
And trust the Blitzboks to do it in the most nail-biting fashion possible.
With both teams locked level on log points heading into the final, the stage was set for a dramatic showdown.
South Africa took control early through tries by Gino Cupido and Tristan Leyds to build a 10–0 lead before Fiji fought back to make it a one-score game. A dramatic final attack from Fiji had fans on edge, but the Blitzboks’ trademark defence held firm to secure the win.
Fiji launched one last attacking with just seconds left on the clock. But in a twist of relief for the men in green and gold, a knock-on ended the threat.
Earlier in the day, South Africa had already shown their fighting spirit in the semi-finals against Argentina. Tries from Sebastiaan Jobb and a brilliant 70-metre effort by Selvyn Davids secured a 14–5 victory and a spot in the final.
But the bigger picture here? A series being claimed.
