In just under a year, Charity Crowdfund NPC has turned thousands of loaves and lunches into a lifetime of hope, nourishing over 28,000 lives through the simple power of community action!

Johannesburg, South Africa (07 April 2026) – Over 1,500 lunches delivered, over 4,000 cooked and over 14,500 loaves of bread distributed. These numbers reflect only a glimpse of the incredible impact Charity Crowdfund NPC has made in less than a year.

Launched in September 2025, Charity Crowdfund has touched the lives of more than 28,000 people by providing weekly distributions of fresh bread, nourishing meals, clean water, and wholesome school lunches in Johannesburg.

The organisation is inclusive and open to all. It operates sincerely in the spirit of giving, where every rand donated is accounted for, ensuring that generosity touches those who need it most.

Charity Crowdfund is a registered South African non-profit organisation governed by a board of professionals and is dedicated to practical, consistent community support through consistent giving.

Active Projects

Weekly Bread Distribution

Every week, Charity Crowdfund distributes fresh bread to families in need, with a target of 50,000 loaves before the end of 2026. Distributions are tracked publicly, week by week, on the charity’s website.

Waterwell Project

At R16,500 per well, the charity funds water wells in communities without access to clean water. a lasting, generational impact. Seven wells have been completed, with more underway.

Winter Blanket Project

With South Africa’s winter months approaching, Charity Crowdfund is collecting donations to distribute warm blankets to those in need. Forty-five blankets have already been distributed in the first week of the campaign.

Technology Driven

Charity Crowdfund is not just a charity. It is a technology-first organisation that uses modern infrastructure to make giving as easy and transparent as possible.

Effortless Donations

Donating takes seconds. The platform supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, instant EFT, and card payments: all secured and encrypted. Donors can also schedule recurring weekly or monthly contributions directly from the website, with no friction and no paperwork.

This commitment to a seamless donation experience removes barriers to giving and enables more people from any background to participate consistently in community upliftment.

Technology-Powered Transparency

Every donation is tracked, and every distribution is recorded publicly. The organisation publishes a detailed, week-by-week distribution history on its website, showing exactly what was given, to whom, and when.

Donors can see the direct impact of their contributions in real time. This level of accountability, made possible by purpose-built technology, sets Charity Crowdfund apart.

There is no gap between what is collected and what is distributed. The data is always public, always current, and always verifiable.

In a country where charitable giving is often ad hoc and accountability is limited, Charity Crowdfund represents a different model rooted in professional governance, transparent weekly reporting, and a commitment to sustained, measurable impact, which directly brings hope and comfort to communities every week.

What started as one runner’s personal routine has grown into a Friday morning gathering where everyone, from beginners to seasoned runners feel at home.

Johannesburg, South Africa (07 April 2026) – What began as a quiet Friday morning routine has grown into something far more meaningful. For Natasha Donnelly, the journey of the PPT Social Run didn’t start with a grand plan. In fact, it started during a very personal season of her life.

“At the time, I was more into cycling, but it got too cold, so I started running by myself. One of the girls said, ‘Don’t run alone, come join us.’”

That first run was an unforgettable experience for Natasha. And not because of pace or performance, but because of how it felt.

“I remember thinking I felt out of place because I’m not really a runner. But as we started running and talking, there were no expectations. It was just about connecting, engaging and I immediately felt it.”

From that moment, she kept coming back and what was a simple idea developed into something much bigger.

“I said, why don’t we make this bigger? Not in a complicated way. Just let people know we’re running, and we’ll have coffee afterwards.”

Partnering with a local coffee spot, the group asked for nothing more than an earlier opening time, and from 15 runners it went to a weekly gathering of nearly 200. But for Natasha, the numbers are not what define PPT.

“It’s difficult to explain, but it’s more than a club,” she says. “It’s a community initiative. It’s a feeling. People come here because they’re looking for something they don’t find elsewhere, that sense of belonging.”

Every Friday before sunrise, people of all ages and fitness levels arrive. It could be runners, walkers, beginners, seasoned athletes, even children before school and grandparents joining in. That sense of inclusivity has also created space for deeply meaningful moments.

One example is Jay-Dee, who joined the run in her wheelchair without any announcement or special arrangement.

“She just arrived one day, and that’s what made it so powerful,” Natasha says. “We never wanted to make it a ‘thing’. She felt comfortable enough to just show up.”

From there, the community stepped in by helping where needed, even arranging a ramp to make the route more accessible.

The same spirit carried into fundraising efforts, where the group raised close to R200,000 to support both Jay-Dee and another member, Bill, with equipment.

And while expansion is exciting, PPT’s mission remains simple.

“As long as it’s about the people, and there’s good coffee,” she smiles, “then we’re happy.”

Across South Africa, old race medals are finding new meaning in the hands of brave young patients.

Johannesburg, South Africa (07 April 2026) – It’s not every day that a hospital visit ends with a medal… but sometimes, courage deserves to be recognised!

At Netcare Olivedale Hospital, that idea is being brought to life, turning moments of fear into memories of strength for young patients who face more than most of us can imagine.

Twelve-year-old Ehben Muller recently became the latest recipient of one of the hospital’s special bravery medals after showing incredible composure while being treated for a painful knee dislocation. What started as a frightening early morning quickly became a story about courage, care, and a team that understands just how important it is to recognise both.

“Ehben woke us at around 5 am in severe pain and very anxious because his knee had dislocated while he was sleeping,” his mom, Adri Muller, shared. “It was traumatic for him, especially because it happened while sleeping.”

Paramedics were called to assess him at home, and with concerns about causing further damage, they made the decision to transport him to hospital for specialised care. At the emergency department, doctors confirmed a dislocation of his left patella and prepared to stabilise it under conscious sedation, ensuring the procedure could be done safely and as comfortably as possible. It’s an experience that would shake even the bravest adult but Ehben approached it with a calmness that stood out to everyone in the room. Despite the pain and the anxiety, he remained cooperative throughout, following instructions carefully and even helping to position himself for the procedure. It was a level of maturity that left a lasting impression on the medical team caring for him.

In recognition of that courage, they awarded him one of their bravery medals, part of a special tradition in the emergency department where young patients are celebrated for the strength they show during treatment. These medals, donated by members of the community, carry far more meaning than their size suggests. They transform what could be a traumatic memory into something empowering… a reminder that even in difficult moments, there is something to be proud of.

“Visits to the emergency department can be frightening for children,” says Eugene Ferreira, General Manager of Netcare Olivedale Hospital. “Recognising their courage helps make the experience less intimidating and celebrates the remarkable resilience young patients often show. Ehben’s bravery was truly inspiring to witness.”

For Ehben, this wasn’t his first experience with a knee dislocation, which makes his response all the more remarkable. He already knew what to expect, yet he still chose to face it head-on. Now focused on recovery, he is attending physiotherapy, working with a biokineticist, and even going to gym to strengthen the muscles around his knees. He has a condition known as patella alta, where the kneecaps sit higher than usual, increasing the likelihood of dislocations, and while surgery isn’t an option just yet, his commitment to rehabilitation is clear.

“He is very dedicated to his recovery,” his mom explains. “He attends physiotherapy, works with a biokineticist, and even goes to the gym to strengthen the muscles around his knees. Keeping him fit, active, and healthy is our priority. He never complains, even when the exercises are challenging or painful. As parents, we should never take it for granted when our children are healthy and able to participate in sports without limitations.”

Beyond the hospital, Ehben is a curious and determined young boy who attends Laerskool Unika, where he explores his love for computers and technology through robotics. He also plays hockey and is determined to keep going, even with the fear of future dislocations lingering in the background. Last year, he represented his school at the 2025 World Robotics Olympiad, and he has his sights set on doing it again.

After his treatment, Ehben was discharged later that same day with a knee brace and crutches, but not before taking the time to thank every member of the medical team who helped him. It’s a small detail, but one that speaks volumes about the kind of person he is.

And while this story belongs to one young boy, it also reflects something much bigger happening across South Africa. From hospital initiatives like this one to national drives like the HAHA Bling for Bravery campaign, where thousands of donated race medals are given to children facing medical challenges, there’s a growing movement focused on recognising courage in the moments where it matters most.

More than 22,000 medals were collected earlier this year alone, each one destined to become a symbol of strength for a child who needs it. It is a beautiful act of kindness to gift a moment of completing a challenge, to honour a stranger’s bravery. It’s South African. And we are here for it.

When the petrol price hits hard, you’ve gotta get creative, and Themba Robin has just taken “fuel-efficient travel” to a hilariously new level!

Johannesburg, South Africa (06 April 2026) – Tough times are inevitable, but if there’s one thing about South Africans, it’s their ability to find humour in almost any situation, inviting everyone to join in the laughter.

Many are aware that there’s been a lot happening abroad in the political sphere, and we empathise with those severely affected by the global conflicts unfolding in our time.

Recently, South Africa has felt the impact of heightened risks in global energy markets, leading to record-high fuel prices and a shared sense of unease among us all.

But as mentioned, we manage to cope with the doom and gloom through humour. Giving us the giggles recently was Comedic Content Creator, Themba Robin, who recently posted a hilarious skit showing his creative new approach to e-hailing without the stress of needing fuel.

In the amusing video, he’s seen pushing a wheelbarrow with Uber branding and stopping to pick up his next client for their ride, who was more than happy to hop in and be pushed to their destination.

“Petrol prices got us doing what we need to do to get by,” Themba shared playfully in the post’s caption.

It was witty, relevant and had the people laughing out loud!

“Do we pay in steps?” Marilet Swanepoel hilariously asked.

“The way he’s checking the number plate before he jumps in,” observed Siobhan Noelle Roy.

“Going to build it tomorrow to pick up a wheelbarrow,” Garret Van Der Walt joked.

The post has hit over one million views on Facebook, and there’s no wonder why! Thank you for the clever solution (hopefully one we won’t have to resort to) and, most importantly, for bringing us plenty of laughs when we needed them most, Themba.

Anele Mdoda and Frankie got the inside scoop on A24’s most anticipated 2026 film, The Drama, ahead of its cinema release.

Johannesburg, South Africa (06 April 2026) – Hollywood’s finest, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, sat with Anele and Frankie.

The exclusive interview took place ahead of the release of The Drama, one of the most anticipated films of the year, which hit cinemas on 3 April. And if the storyline is anything to go by, audiences are in for an emotional rollercoaster, as a perfect couple’s wedding week takes an unexpected and dramatic turn.

But before the film even landed on the big screen, Anele and Frankie made sure to bring their signature energy to the moment and they didn’t just stop at the questions. Fully leaning into the theme, the duo showed up dressed for the occasion, channelling the film’s wedding aesthetic in a way that added a fun twist to the interview.

It’s that mix of humour and creativity that made the sit-down feel less like a formal press tour and more like a conversation. And let’s be honest, sharing a screen with stars like Zendaya and Robert Pattinson? That’s a moment.

Beyond the glitz, it’s also a big win with Anele and the Club being the only South African platform to land the interview. And with The Drama set to arrive in cinemas, this might just be the perfect way to get a feel for what’s coming. So grab your popcorn and enjoy the show.

If you’re keen to catch all the moments, the laughs, and the behind-the-scenes energy, you can watch the full interview via the link here.

If you’ve ever wanted to meet the people dedicating their lives to saving greyhounds, donkeys, parrots, rats, pigs, and big cats – your Sunday plans just sorted themselves out!

Johannesburg, South Africa (02 April 2026)The Rescue Expo is back, and this time it’s bigger than ever before! The first of its kind Autumn Edition lands at Bryanston Market on Sunday 19 April 2026 from 9am to 3pm.

It’s one of the most feel-good days Jozi has to offer.

It all started in 2022 with three animal advocates and a good idea. Fast forward to October 2025, and the fourth annual Rescue Expo pulled in 2500 visitors, hosted 60 vetted rescue and rehabilitation organisations, and distributed a whopping 3000kg of donated pet food.

Photo Credit: The Rescue Collective SA

In 2026, the expo is running twice as the Autumn Edition in April, and a Spring Edition in September. Two chances to show up for the animals!

It’s not just about the heroes who rescue dogs and cats (although yes, there are many of those too) it represents the full picture of animal welfare in Gauteng. This year’s participating organisations include donkey sanctuaries, parrot and cockatiel rescues, rat and rodent welfare organisations, pig havens, therapy dog programmes, wildlife rehabilitation, and big cat conservation!

“If there’s an animal in South Africa, there’s someone quietly giving their life to protect it and the Expo is where you get to meet them.”

The expo is where you finally get to meet them face to face. Some of the incredible organisations attending this month include Greyhound Welfare SA, Pigs ‘n Paws, Rat Angels, Rest Ur Ass Donkey Sanctuary, The Lions Foundation, Brainy Birds, ARC Rabbit Assist, and dozens more.

Photo Credit: The Rescue Collective SA

South Africa’s animal rescue sector runs almost entirely without government funding. Most organisations survive on donations, WhatsApp appeals, and the personal savings of their founders. Abandonment and backyard breeding mean shelters are operating at chronic capacity. The Rescue Expo exists to help break that cycle by connecting rescues with adopters, donors, and each other, and giving the public a window into a world of animal welfare most people never get to see.

Behind it all is The Rescue Collective, founded by Dean Bush (Greyhound Welfare SA), Jennifer Gerner (former vet nurse for CLAW), and Cheryl Hunter (three decades in animal welfare). They started the Collective because they kept seeing NPOs working in isolation, too stretched to even find each other let alone the public who wanted to help.

This year’s event will include rescue and rehabilitation organisations covering every species, pet product suppliers, adoption opportunities for animals looking for forever homes, food stalls, and fundraising merch supporting individual rescue groups. And it’s also pet-friendly, so leash up your well-socialised dog and bring them along!

When? Sunday 19 April 2026
What time? 9:00am – 3:00pm
Where? Bryanston Market, 40 Culross Road, Bryanston
Tickets? R50 per adult | Children free | Leashed dogs welcome

Find The Rescue Collective SA on Facebook for more.

This is one of those days where you leave feeling hopeful about humanity. Don’t miss it!

Ten-year-old Kitana Inderpal will compete in Bangkok after standout performances at the national level, with support needed to make the journey possible.

Johannesburg, South Africa (02 April 2026) – A bright young learner from Johannesburg is set to take her talents to the global stage, and she’s making South Africa proud while doing it.

Ten-year-old Kitana Inderpal has been selected to represent the country at the AsiaRope International English Olympiad in Bangkok, Thailand, following an impressive run at the national level. Her results speak volumes: she achieved Gold status, placed third in the South African Olympiad national round, and secured second place in the AsiaRope national round.

Now, she’s preparing to compete against learners from across the world, with participants expected from between 10 and 20 countries. It’s a massive opportunity to test her academic skills and to gain international exposure and experience at a young age.

But Kitana’s achievements don’t stop in the classroom. She’s a well-rounded learner who continues to shine in different spaces. Her English work has already been featured in her school’s quarterly newsletter, and she was recognised as one of ten winners in the Yokico competition. On top of that, she also volunteers her time at a local veterinary practice.

This next step in her journey is a big one, but it does come with high costs. The total for the trip is estimated at around R75,000, covering flights, accommodation and competition-related expenses. While her family is fully behind her and committed to supporting her dream, they are reaching out for additional support to help make this opportunity a reality.

Every contribution, no matter the size, can help take Kitana one step closer to representing South Africa on an international stage.

For those who would like to support her or find out more, you can follow the link here.

One of South Africa’s biggest football clubs launches a women’s team, marking a major step in women’s football.

Johannesburg, South Africa (01 April 2026) – Big news for South African football! Kaizer Chiefs have officially stepped into the women’s game, and it’s a moment that’s been a long time coming.

The club unveiled its brand-new women’s side in Daveyton, marking an exciting new chapter not just for Chiefs, but for women’s football across the country. One of the biggest names in the game is now creating space for women to shine in those famous colours.

The squad already has a strong mix of experience and young talent, including former Banyana Banyana midfielder Mamello Makhabane, along with rising players like Zanele Kunyamane and Katlego Mohale. It’s the kind of blend that promises both quality now and serious potential for the future.

Club Chairman Kaizer Motaung says this is about more than just adding another team.

“This is a proud moment for Kaizer Chiefs. As a Club, we understand the responsibility we carry within South African football, and this step reflects our commitment to growing the game in a meaningful way. Women’s football is an important part of the future, and we are committed to being part of that journey.”

He added that building a team like this is about thinking long-term, with a focus on future generations, and ensuring the game continues to grow, become more inclusive, and strengthen over time.

“When you build something of this nature, you must think beyond the present moment. You must consider the generations that will follow and the responsibility that comes with that.”

At the heart of it all is something fans have been calling for. Real opportunities for women in the game, and a proper pathway to grow and compete at the highest level.

That’s something Jessica Motaung has highlighted.

“This is about building real pathways for women in the game. The women’s game is growing rapidly across the world, and South Africa is part of that upward trajectory. We want female soccer players to see this team and understand that there is a place for them within Kaizer Chiefs and within the global game.”

She expressed appreciation for the support received, adding that strong collaboration plays a key role in building something sustainable.

With a full squad, coaching team, and a home base in Johannesburg, the team is getting ready to compete and bring a whole new energy to the local women’s game.

Women’s football in South Africa is growing, and now, one of the biggest clubs in the country is fully part of that journey.

From the ‘cells’ of Boksburg to the hands of waiting children, Craig View’s veterinary team just proved that justice is best served sweet!

Johannesburg, South Africa (01 April 2026) – Every year, Craig View Veterinary Clinic gets the East Rand involved in collecting thousands of Easter eggs for local orphanages, old age homes and families who could use a little extra sweetness.

This year, the road to raising 4000 Beacon boxes was paved with…scandal!

“After maintaining a dignified silence throughout 2025, Craig View can no longer hold back: we were badly let down by a major donor who pledged thousands of Easter Eggs and then failed to deliver.” the vets shared.

With a big target to hit and memories of last year’s undelivered pledges still lingering, the team decided to crack down on the crooks. Their attorneys stepped in to help handle matters as the clinic made it very clear. If you promised eggs, you’d better deliver.

“Following an urgent meeting with our local magistrate, we have been granted extraordinary permission to pursue legal recourse against those who make promises they do not keep.”

The drama reached a fever pitch when community members Jed Dale, Daleen Walters, DA Councillor Mary Goby, and Sammy Lee officially ‘surrendered’ to the SAPS. Facilitated by the sharp legal minds at Pearson Attorneys, the suspects were handed over on the charge of failing to meet the city’s soaring demand for Easter joy.

Bail was set, and the negotiations were intense. In this courtroom, cash was no good. Only the snap of a chocolate shell and the crinkle of a colourful wrapper would secure a release.

With a ward councillor, a hair stylist and trainer, and a beauty therapist all behind bars, it was up to their supporters to raise the target and win their freedom.

“We urge the broader community, businesses, schools, and individuals to rally behind those who have stepped forward with pledges. Support them generously—because we can promise one thing with absolute certainty: justice will be served, and your favourite local shop, office, or entrepreneur might find themselves temporarily short-staffed if a cell door closes behind them.” the clinic wrote at the time.

This week, the update came in live, straight from the cells where the suspects were being held.

Because of these ‘willing criminals’ and the supporters who scrambled to pay their bail, local orphanages and old age homes are about to receive a massive boost of eggs and essentials!

“Many of you were glued to the drama!” shared Craig View afterwards. “Benoni and Boksburg community members were dramatically ‘handed over’ to SAPS by our very own Pearson attorneys. It was intense, entertaining, and a little too real for some – we even had to delete a few comments about those smooth criminals!” the vets shared.

The final, staggering tally of boxes is being kept under wraps until the Easter weekend (stay tuned). The clinic has extended a huge thank you to everyone involved.

“Our greatest thanks to Jen, Daleen, Mary & Sammy you raised the bar and the eggs so high! Thank you simply doesn’t feel enough. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm made this bail collection drive an unforgettable success. You all deserve an Oscar!” the team wrote.“To all your clients, family, friends and supporters who donated for your safety may you be blessed this Easter.”

What a happy, light-hearted reminder that even when the goal seems high, like 4000 boxes high, a little bit of creativity, a smidge of sensation, and a community that refuses to leave anyone behind can turn a ‘legal crisis’ into easter eggs for all. Yay!

A bold SPCA message challenges public perceptions around adoption fees, while unpacking the real cost of animal care and the growing crisis of abandoned pets.

Vereeniging, South Africa (01 April 2026) – A bold message from the SPCA is getting people talking (and thinking) about what it really takes to care for and rehome animals. And it’s not as easy as people would think.

At first glance, the idea sounds simple: remove adoption fees and make it easier for animals to find homes. The organisation even suggests that potential adopters could take an animal home at no upfront cost, with only veterinary procedures like sterilisation, vaccinations and microchipping to be arranged and paid for directly with a vet.

But that’s where the message takes a turn.

The SPCA uses this scenario to highlight an important reality. And that’s the often-criticised adoption fee, usually around R1100, already covers all of those essential procedures. When compared to private veterinary costs, that fee suddenly looks far more reasonable.

Beyond the numbers, the organisation is also addressing growing criticism it has faced in recent weeks, including accusations around costs and difficult decisions made at shelters. According to the SPCA, these challenges are rooted in the overwhelming number of unwanted and abandoned animals.

Each year, thousands of animals are taken in, far exceeding the available space and resources. With limited kennels and no government funding, difficult decisions sometimes have to be made to prevent suffering.

The message also turns the spotlight back onto the public, raising tough but necessary questions about responsibility. From unsterilised pets to abandoned animals, the SPCA says many of the challenges begin long before animals arrive at their doors.

So at its core, the campaign is less about removing fees and more about shifting perspective. It’s a call to adopt, support, and get involved.
